I discovered over the last several years that it is possible to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles by building upon small changes.  With patience and support, realizing fitness goals does not have to feel like torture and sacrifice. I started LB Fitness & Wellness as a way to help people overcome obstacles to getting healthier.

Background

From childhood I participated in a range of sports and in high school I played on soccer and state championship field hockey teams.  I began practicing yoga in college at Brown University.  After graduating I worked in public relations at Burson-Marsteller for four years.  I spent the next three years as part of a two-woman in-house communications team at The Atlantic Philanthropies, bringing the foundation out of anonymity and helping its grantees with internal and external communications.  I decided I needed to explore something more hands-on and creative.

Next I took a unique opportunity to restore and redevelop two historic properties in Westchester County, NY, during which time I had two baby girls.  I was managing these and other properties when I walked into Crossfit South Brooklyn a few blocks from my apartment and made the decision to "get fit again" -- or at least that's how I saw it.  My second daughter was still a little baby, and I suddenly felt I couldn't coast on my high school athleticism any longer; I didn't feel as strong or as physically capable as I wanted to feel.

Transition

It was a gradual transition that involved trial and error, new exercises, some nutritional changes, a new appreciation for sleep, standing at my desk, and other small tweaks here and there.  Nothing happened fast, but none of it was painful.  Improvements were almost daily at first, and all of it was exciting.

I became an avid Crossfit athlete and increasingly active in my gym community.  I am Crossfit Level 1 Trainer certified and have participated in several Crossfit and Power Lifting competitions and fundraisers and well as Olympic Lifting and Gymnastics-specific classes.  I have also been developing my yoga practice for 15 years.

Today

I am currently raising my 6 and almost 4-year-old daughters with my husband in Brooklyn.  When I'm not working with my LB Fitness & Wellness clients, I am spending time with my family and friends, working out in Crossfit gyms, practicing yoga, meditation, Olympic lifts or gymnastics, riding my bike, or playing on my soccer team or coaching my daughter's team.

I truly enjoy working with people and am happy to be able to apply the skills I have acquired from this diverse background in sports, fitness and communications to create personalized programs tailored to my clients' needs, interests and abilities.
